Accreditation and Assessment Data
Accreditation & Assessment Data Overview
Each year, students participate in a variety of assessments. Some are required by the state to address state and federal accountability requirements. Some involve student preparation for post-secondary admission and education, and others give classroom teachers and parents information about academic growth during the school year.
Programs and services to support student achievement and enhance learning and teaching are guided by the 2023-28 CCS Strategic Plan.
At Charlottesville Schools, like schools across the state and country, we find socioeconomic and racial disparities in areas such as standardized test scores. Visit our equity page to learn more about our successes and challenges, and how we work to support all of our students.

Where to Find and How to Understand the State Data
- Find the complete data for these and other metrics at Virginia School Quality Profiles.
- Find slides presented to the School Board on October 5, 2023 here.
- 2024 Annual Pass rates presented on September 5, 2024
For each school, the state’s School Quality Profiles contain two primary data sets.
- The school’s “accreditation” tab shows the combined achievement rates that often reflect students’ growth or other adjustments. The school’s accreditation status is currently tied to these figures.
- The division and school “assessments” tabs show the annual pass rates. Annual pass rates do not include growth, English Learners’ progress toward English language proficiency, and other adjustments that are made for state accreditation.
Virginia’s Visualization and Analytics Solution (VVAAS) Public Site
The VVAAS Public site provides a graphing tool called scatterplots, which enables comparison among Virginia K-12 public divisions. The scatterplots create interactive graphs for an SOL test that include growth, achievement, and student demographic information for each division within the state. View the linked documents on the site for more details.
